Many of you may not have heard that it has now been legalized by Obama for horses to be slaughtered for human consumption. It is a moral outrage! Horses are valued pets, partners, friends, helpers, and workers in our country. The country was formed and fought for on their backs, and this is how we re-payed them! I wrote a lovely email to the president along with many others concerning this topic and i have posted what i said below. If you don’t agree i really don’t care but you have a right to say your opinion. If you do care please spread around the news about this monstrosity so more people can know and help stop it! email or call your local state governors and representatives and senators! ONLY WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! also down below is the congress website where you can sign the petition against horse slaughter.
Dear President Obama,
I am horrified to discover this late that you now made horse slaughter legal in the US. We do not raise horses for slaughter, it is an unfortunate place that many healthy, promising, and young horses end up because of irresponsible owners. Let me ask you this..Would you send your daughter’s dog to slaughter? NO. Why should horses be any different? They are the symbol of Freedom and What the Old west used to be! This country was formed on the back of those horses! What you just did was very unpatriotic. You just a signed a death sentence for the horses of this country. If you don’t change this i can promise you that you definitely wont be re-elected next year, i can assure you I WILL NOT be voting for you! I vow for every horse that is sent to the kill pen because of what you just did, and every outfit i sell the money will go straight to rescuing that horse! I apologize if this email ruins your day but what i just learned today ruined my life!
This Friday i will be departing Hong Kong for the States. In my last few days here i have noticed that as the days grow shorter my love for Hong Kong, its people, and culture grow stronger. I have made so many meaningful relationships and had so many wonderful experiences. I wish that i could stay here and live in this dream forever, but it looks like i will have to wake up and face reality. Even though I will miss Hong Kong dearly i will keep my memories locked inside my heart so that i will never forget them!~
I can’t believe i came here 8 weeks ago the time has really gone by fast. I am so sad to leave HK it is a very inspiring place that fuels my art work. I have met so many wonderful people who have supported and encouraged me here, I can’t bear to leave them. I don’t want to go back to the states HK has been a great escape for me. I am happy not hear about all the celebrity melodrama and corrupt politicians. Even though i know its every where i don’t seem to notice it too much here. The hustle and Bustle of this busy city is actually relaxing to me, when i came i never got culture shock or anything remotely close. Hopefully i can come back to Hong Kong one day, I will continue to try my best at Fashion design and maybe one day i will be selling my clothes designs here ! 🙂
Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday! The costumes is my favorite part and i love how the atmosphere in a town changes as it gets closer to the spooky date. As i am in Hong Kong to study this quarter it was quite interesting to see how the locals celebrated the event. Even though it is more of a western holiday, the theme parks really put on a great show. However i am still a little homesick for my hometown’s Halloween, not being able to celebrate and carve pumpkins with my family makes it feel a little weird. I am thankful however that i did have so much fun for Halloween here! here is a picture of what my yard looked like on halloween in 2009.
Here is the cover of debonair’s magazine if it was to ever come into being, it would look something like this…
Ok so one thing i could never understand was how people who were into the steampunk style could wear those high tight elaborate boots all year round, especially in summer when it is so hot. So i thought there must be some way to incorporate the qualities of steam punk and put them in something more summer appropriate. So here they are! the clock sandals! The clock actually works and it is held by leather.
Studying in Hong Kong has really started inspiring my art and fashion, my new collection culture SHOCK is a twist on eastern and western clothes. By mixing together the east and the west to get the best of both worlds. This collection is currently in process as well as most of my others…and they will most likely continue to be as i like to keep the designing door open for those collections. Featured is airy chiffon dress with a Chinese brocade sewn in. This dress comes in black/cream/red, brown/cream/green, grey/cream/black, cream/gold/white.
I know what you are all thinking. “Its so not tuesday…why are you posting this?”
Well i have a good reason that i think you all will like. Casual Tuesday is an expression i made to describe the days where i don’t feel like putting an outfit together or looking even half decent. Its a day where i dress up anyway i want too or how i feel like dressing. Now that could mean a T-shirt and jean short shorts or baggy comfy pants and just a camisole. I believe everyone is entitled to have one of these days or 2 …just i wouldn’t make it everyday…anyways thats all for now!
